It’s that time again; welcome to the fifth edition of Fresh Music Roundup. Keep reading to listen to this month’s top music picks.
Novelist – 1 Sec
Although this song was released back in January, it went under my radar and with Grime seemingly becoming more popular as a movement, with artists such as Skepta, JME and Stormzy making global waves, 18-year-old XL Recordings artits, Novelist, is another artist to watch.
The Weeknd – Can’t Feel My Face
Mr. Weeknd is seeing an unprecedented career surge with three hit US top-ten singles under his belt so far this year, the third being ‘Can’t Feel My Face’. In my opinion this song is giving me a mixture Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars and ILoveMakkonen.
Tame Impala – Eventually
I first stumbled across Tame Impala after Kendrick Lamar remixed their song ‘Seems Like We Only Go Backwards’ for the Divergent Soundtrack, then I heard ‘Cause I’m a Man’ and their most recent track, ‘Eventually’ and I am beginning to become a fan.
Major Lazer (ft. Ellie Goulding & Taurrus Riley) – Powerful
An unlikely pairing in Reggae star, Taurrus Riley and British pop-star, Ellie Goulding, but somehow the song works.
Bauer (ft. AlunaGeorge & Rae Sremmurd) – One Touch
Again, this is not a ‘new’ song but I love it. It gives me a little bit of Ashanti ‘Only U’ vibes, but it is still a fantastic song. Aluna’s vocals are enchanting.
